Interplan signs at Cape Verde feature on TV
The fabulous signs that Interplan produced for the Bikini Beach branded resort at Cape Verde formed one of the backdrops during the recent filming of Britain’s Next Top Model. We are all looking forward to our signs featuring when the show is aired in 2017. Further information to follow in relation to timing – a video will be added to our website and social media sites when available.

New wayfinding signage on track at Doncaster Station
As part of the £21 million development for the new Platform Zero at Doncaster Station, Interplan are about to embark on their first Network Rail project. The signage will consist of upgrading existing signage to include directions to the new platform, in addition to signage on the platform itself.
Exciting times at Interplan as we are now starting to see the dividends of our marketing campaign which was intended to broaden our signage portfolio across a number of market sectors. We have recently secured wayfinding projects within the retail, hotel and leisure, higher education and rail sectors as part of our planned growth which started in 2016 when we relocated to a more modern production facility and changed our logo which had served us for 30 years to a more contemporary one.
Another education win at the new Business & Law School at UWE, Bristol
As the new £50 million state of the art facility nears completion, Interplan have been found guilty of offering competitive pricing, quality products and value for money. Consequently, we have been sentenced to two weeks hard labour on site installing the internal and external signage. Seriously though, this is an exciting project in which to be involved as we are working with the award winning design team of ABG who are based in Truro. Managing Director, Howard Miles and his team have prepared conceptual sign designs which incorporate the university’s new brand.
Following ABG’s design intent, Interplan have prepared a series of samples which reflect the signage concepts and will embark on the manufacturing phase of the project in the coming weeks, with installation due for completion in mid November.
A quote from Pro Vice Chancellor, Professor Jane Harrington, reflects the part that will be played by the new building in cementing the important links between the business community and the university.
“Our role is to be part of the real world of business, to reach out to business and enable them to reach in to us. There are huge benefits for businesses of working closely with a modern practice-based university like UWE Bristol, and this new building will create the opportunity to enable this to happen by fostering informal and formal interaction’.
Interplan Go International
Whilst we haven’t opened an office abroad,Interplan have recently secured our first international project. As you can imagine there were no shortage of volunteers to undertake any site surveys in Cape Verde. However, the hopes of our employees were dashed when it was announced that the signage was supply only. It goes without saying that we are excited to put our name to the signage package for the Llana Resort which is opening in November 2016. Signage consists of a suit of signage for the Bikini Beach brand and various concession outlets. A case study will be added to our website upon the completion of the project in mid October.
Interplan would like to take this opportunity to thank Alex Allen, Creative Director of local company Design on The Tyne for the timely preparation of the constructional detail and visuals that were required for approval prior to the manufacturing phase of the project. Design on The Tyne
Welcome to our new apprentices
As part of our planned phase of growth and commitment to working with the local community, Interplan are collaborating with Derwentside College to establish a sign-making apprenticeship. The apprenticeship, which will last for three years, will give local students the opportunity to gain essential sign making skills within all departments of our business, with a view to permanent employment upon successful completion of their course.
We have recently welcomed Conor Pearson and Jay Rayner to Interplan and they are currently working within our CNC and fabrication departments.
Derwentside College are delighted to have two new Apprentices working at Interplan Sign Systems, Consett. We are highly committed to creating opportunities for young people and adults to gain qualifications in real working environments; and are therefore delighted that Interplan approached us to be their Apprenticeship provider. Apprenticeships raise the aspirations of young people and provide a fantastic opportunity for them to grow and develop in a work environment. We wish Conor and Jay all the best in their apprenticeship and hope they have a long and enjoyable career with Interplan.

Priority Schools Programme
As part of the Governments drive to improve the state of the nations schools, the Priority Schools Building Programme was implemented to identify those schools in most urgent need of repair.
Through a competitive tendering process Interplan have been awarded preferred supplier status by both Sir Robert McAlpine and Interserve to design, manufacture, install and maintain the signage requirements for 15 schools in the North East and North West of England during 2016 with further signage requirements to follow in 2017.
Our remit has been to start with pretty much a blank canvas, engage with key stakeholders to assess their aspirations and requirements, prepare signage schedules with each schedule accompanied by a detailed visual pack. Signage elements for the internal and external areas were produced following approval of our visuals prior to manufacture and installation by our team.
Let The Gate Begin
Following a number of site meetings, we have an agreed programme of works which starts tonight with the removal of the iconic Gate main entrance sign which has stood the test of time. The sign will be removed in sections and lowered to the ground using start of the art powered access machinery. The removal of this logo will allow the installation of a temporary contravision vinyl image to take place. Further updates to follow as we make progress on site.
School holidays for some
With the school holidays fast approaching the pupils can enjoy their well-deserved break. However, no such break for the good folk of Interplan. Pupils at a number of schools will return to new or refurbished facilities following their summer break. Interplan will be working with Sir Robert McAlpine and Interserve to provide signage at the following schools – John Spence High School, Tynemouth, Prudhoe Community High School, Marden High School. Elton High School, Bury, Stanley Grove Primary Academy School, Manchester, St Joseph’s R.C. Primary School, Counden.
